International Academy for Traditional Physical Culture (IATPC) Launches Global Digital Hub on the MERLOT Platform
The International Northern Ssireum Federation (INSF) is proud to announce the formal establishment of its central academic hub for the International Academy for Traditional Physical Culture (IATPC). This state-of-the-art digital infrastructure is hosted on the MERLOT (Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching) platform, administered by the California State University (CSU) system.
This strategic initiative marks a pivotal milestone in the INSF’s mission to document, preserve, and globalize the intangible cultural heritage of Ssireum (Korean Traditional Northern Wrestling) and related warrior cultures across the Silk Road.

By leveraging the MERLOT platform—an internationally recognized standard for academic and educational resources—the IATPC elevates its operations to a global level. This hub will serve as the central repository for:
- Scholarly Research: Academic papers, journals, and comparative studies on Ssireum and traditional wrestling traditions.
- Cultural Archives: Digital records of Ssireum heritage from our National Cultural Headquarters across the Silk Road.
- Educational Frameworks: Standardized modules for the preservation and study of traditional physical culture, centered on the spirit and techniques of Ssireum.

This digital headquarters provides a unified framework for our National Cultural Headquarters worldwide. By centralizing our research and educational assets under the prestigious academic umbrella of the California State University system, the INSF ensures that our efforts to safeguard living cultural heritage, particularly the UNESCO-listed Ssireum tradition, meet the highest standards of international verification and accessibility.

The IATPC digital hub is now live and serves as the official archive for the Silk Road Warrior Culture Series and other critical academic initiatives regarding Ssireum.
