A major international milestone has been reached to introduce ‘Subak’—a precious traditional Korean martial heritage and physical culture—to the global stage.
The World Subak Federation LLC (WSF) announced that it has officially received corporate approval (LLC) from the State Government of Wyoming, USA, initiating the full-scale establishment of its global network and traditional physical culture safeguarding activities.
The incorporation in the United States holds significant weight as it secures a global headquarters to systematically archive Northeast Asia’s unique physical heritage—including traditional Subak, beltless Ssireum (Korean wrestling), and traditional archery—and to foster exchange with instructors and researchers worldwide.
In a strategic move to maximize international credibility, WSF has designated the Institute of Northeast Asian Studies (Northeast Asia Experts Forum, IMAS) as its Official Academic & Advisory Council. Established in 2016, IMAS has built a distinguished reputation by hosting over 11 high-level academic seminars at prominent venues, including the National Assembly of Korea and the UN Peace Park.
Furthermore, the leadership of the federation has continuously expanded its international presence by actively participating in global dialogues, such as UNESCO-UNEVOC related forums and UNDRR (UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction) global webinars, emphasizing the sustainability and community values of traditional body culture.
“The official registration with the U.S. state government transcends the boundaries of a private martial arts school. It establishes the legal and institutional foundation as an international collaborative platform dedicated to safeguarding and transmitting traditional physical heritage,” an official from the federation stated. “Starting June 1st, we will launch ‘The 1st International Traditional Physical Culture Education Program’ targeting martial arts instructors, sports scientists, and cultural exchange practitioners globally.”
The upcoming program features a tuition-waived policy (with a nominal registration and material fee) and operates in an online/offline hybrid format. Outstanding graduates will receive prestigious global credentials, including appointment as a Research Member of IMAS and official certification under the U.S. corporate entity of the World Subak Federation.
