
(Reporter Kim Min-jeong)= The World Subak Federation announced that it plans to participate online in the UNESCO-UNEVOC BILT Bridging Event “Advancing TVET through industry partnerships and innovation” international webinar, scheduled to be held in May 2026.
This event is organized by UNESCO-UNEVOC and the University of South Africa (UNISA) and co-hosted by Durban University of Technology and JET Education Services. The event will cover topics such as Television and Technical Education and Training (TVET), industry-linked education, innovative educational models, and international cooperation.
The World Subak Federation explained that through this webinar, it plans to identify recent trends in international education and Open Educational Resources (OER), and to research directions for developing educational materials related to traditional physical culture and Subak.
The Federation has recently been expanding its activities, primarily in English-speaking regions, including:
Publishing English papers related to Subak
Registering as an International Open Educational Resource (OER)
Establishing a video archive with English subtitles
International webinars and online educational activities In particular, it was announced that work is underway to introduce Subak internationally, not merely as a fighting technique, but from the perspective of Korea’s traditional physical culture and movement education system.
An official from the World Subak Federation stated, “We plan to expand the international accessibility and potential for educational utilization of Korean traditional physical culture materials through connections with international education and open knowledge networks.”
Meanwhile, UNESCO-UNEVOC’s BILT Bridging Events are being operated as part of an international project to build a global TVET (Vocational and Technical Education and Training) cooperation and innovative education network.
