International Martial Arts Committee (IMAC) Announces Global Relaunch

A New Platform for Traditional Martial Arts, Body Culture, and International Heritage Exchange

BUSAN, REPUBLIC OF KOREA — The International Martial Arts Committee (IMAC), a global martial arts and cultural exchange network originally established through cooperation with martial arts instructors and researchers from more than 20 countries, has officially announced its international relaunch and organizational renewal.

The renewed IMAC platform aims to connect traditional martial arts practitioners, body culture researchers, educators, and heritage communities through academic exchange, cultural cooperation, and global networking.

The committee stated that its renewed mission will focus not only on martial arts techniques, but also on the preservation and study of traditional body culture, movement systems, intangible heritage, and diaspora transmission traditions across East Asia and the world.

According to IMAC representatives, the organization plans to collaborate closely with the World Subak Federation LLC (Wyoming, USA), expanding international dialogue related to Korean traditional martial culture, including Subak, Subak-Chum, traditional conditioning systems, and Northeast Asian body mechanics traditions.

“Modern martial arts globalization has often focused only on sportification and competition,” an IMAC spokesperson explained. “Our goal is different. We seek to preserve disappearing traditional movement knowledge and reconnect martial arts with history, culture, ritual, education, and community identity.”

As part of its relaunch strategy, IMAC plans to establish:

  • International martial arts research partnerships
  • Online global heritage webinars
  • Affiliated study groups and educational branches
  • Cross-cultural instructor exchange programs
  • Traditional body culture archives and publications
  • International conferences on martial heritage and movement traditions

The organization also announced that it will invite martial arts instructors, researchers, cultural organizations, and independent academies worldwide to participate as IMAC Global Partners and Heritage Research Members.

The relaunch reflects growing international interest in traditional movement culture, intangible heritage preservation, and alternative martial arts education beyond mainstream combat sports systems.

IMAC stated that further announcements regarding international webinars, advisory appointments, and global partnership programs will be released in the coming months.
