[Press Release] INSF to Host 'Global Silk Road Intangible Heritage Forum' During UN HLPF 2026 Period

The International Ssireum Federation (INSF) is pleased to announce the hosting of a forum under the theme “Connecting Eurasia: The Living Cultural Heritage of the Silk Road and the Sustainable Transmission of Ssireum.”

To be held on July 9, 2026, this forum will serve as a significant milestone in the Federation’s mission to elevate traditional Ssireum to a globally recognized framework of cultural sustainability.

Hosted during the 2026 United Nations High-Level Political Forum (HLPF), this forum will showcase INSF’s robust grassroots network spanning more than 10 countries, including Eurasia.

INSF aims to bring together experts, practitioners, and leaders from diverse member states to demonstrate that traditional intangible cultural heritage is a vital tool for modern sustainable development.

Strengthening a Global Voice

This forum is designed as a collaborative platform for INSF’s international community to share best practices in protecting unique cultural heritage and discuss the future of traditional Ssireum. The International Intangible Cultural Heritage Federation (INSF) is currently hosting a forum inviting speakers from chapters around the world to introduce local activities and highlight the Federation’s efforts toward decentralized, community-led cultural heritage transmission.

INSF President Song Jun-ho stated, “This forum is more than just a meeting; it is a declaration demonstrating our collective strength.” He added, “By connecting Eurasia through the shared history of the Silk Road, we are proving that traditional Ssireum is a living cultural heritage holding the key to a sustainable future.”
