International Northern Ssireum Federation (INSF) Establishes Algeria Cultural Headquarters, Master Kamel Benlamara

(Reporter Kim Min-jeong)= The International Northern Ssireum Federation (INSF), a global non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and globalization of Northern traditional Ssireum, is proud to announce the official establishment of its Algeria Cultural Headquarters.

In a landmark move to expand the reach of UNESCO-recognized intangible cultural heritage, the INSF has appointed Master Kamel Benlamara as the Head of the Algeria Cultural Headquarters. This strategic appointment marks a significant milestone in bridging the traditional wrestling heritage of the Silk Road with contemporary global standards.

“We are honored to have Master Kamel Benlamara lead our efforts in Algeria,” said Song Jun-ho, President of the INSF. “His deep expertise in traditional warrior culture and commitment to academic research will be instrumental in fostering cultural exchange and documenting the historical values of our shared heritage.”

The Algeria Cultural Headquarters will serve as a vital hub for:

Cultural Exchange: Promoting traditional physical culture and fostering international friendship.

Academic Research: Building a comprehensive database of historical wrestling techniques and Northern traditional heritage.

Community Engagement: Representing the INSF in Tanzania to uphold the spirit and values of traditional Ssireum.

This establishment aligns with the INSF’s mission to practice the UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11.4—protecting and safeguarding the world’s cultural and natural heritage. By creating a collaborative network of cultural bases, the INSF aims to position traditional Ssireum as a globally recognized brand that unites nations through sport and history.
