Advancing Cultural Heritage and Global Solidarity: INSF’s Academic Initiative on Eurasian Combat Traditions

(Song Jun-ho)= The International Northern Ssireum Federation (INSF) is proud to announce an ambitious international research and documentation initiative led by its academic division, the International Academy for Traditional Physical Culture (IATPC).

Focused on the Northern Style of Ssireum—a form of traditional wrestling inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity—this project builds a robust network across the Silk Road nations. By connecting scholars and practitioners from across Eurasia, the IATPC is conducting comprehensive studies on the diverse combat cultures of the region, documenting the shared human heritage embedded in these ancient traditions.

Key components of this initiative include:

International Collaborative Research: Publishing joint academic papers that explore the historical, cultural, and sociological significance of Eurasian combat traditions.

Global Publication & Knowledge Sharing: Releasing research findings and cultural narratives via Amazon Global, ensuring these traditions are accessible to a worldwide audience.

Visual Documentation: Producing high-quality video content to preserve the techniques, philosophy, and history of these traditions for future generations.

Alignment with United Nations Objectives
This initiative is a proactive contribution to the United Nations’ mission of promoting cultural diversity and social cohesion. By fostering international cooperation among diverse nations and preserving the intangible cultural heritage of humanity, the IATPC’s work directly aligns with:
